Nine New Specializations for Different Degrees in Al-Ahliyya Amman University

To keep pace with scientific and technological development and to harmonize between academic programs and the requirements of the labor market, and within the insightful strategic vision of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and with the efforts of its administration represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, the University President, Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, the deans of the faculties, the Accreditation Department and the faculty members in various disciplines, the university obtained the approval of The Higher Education Council has approved the creation of nine qualitative specializations for bachelor’s, higher diploma and master’s degrees. The Higher Education Council, in its fifth session held on May 23, 2021, approved the introduction of these specializations starting from the academic year 2021-2022, provided that these specializations are approved by special accreditation before the start of teaching in them. The specialties are: 1. Bachelor’s in Agricultural Technology and Genetic Engineering (College of Agricultural Technology) This is a qualitative program that qualifies its affiliates for the labor market in the modern agricultural sector based on technology and genetic engineering. It is one of the latest international specializations. The university will provide practical training opportunities for students of specialization in the companies of the Hourani Group, which includes a group of dairy companies “Maha” and “Baladna” Danish-Jordanian dairy, in addition to a group of modern farms that include livestock that are cared for through the latest technologies. Here comes the vision of creating such a specialty by qualifying a generation capable of dealing with the latest agricultural technologies that contribute to maintaining food security. 2. The joint MPharm program with the British University of Ulster (College of Pharmacy), in which the student spends the first years at Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the last at the British University of Ulster. The students have the right to apply after that for a certificate to practice the profession of pharmacy in Britain and is granted an immediate work visa. 3. Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts (College of Business) and this program is designed to depend on practical application in the majority, as a group of modern training kitchens have been equipped in the Arena complex so that students can work in this facility, which is the largest in the Middle East, and the products of these kitchens will be sold and distributed from Food and sweets to a group of local restaurants that have signed exclusive partnership agreements with the university, through which it works to implement this qualitative program and sell its products, in addition to distributing some products to the chain of restaurants and cafes owned by the Hourani Group. Affiliates of this specialization will have the opportunity for practical training in the hotels of the Hourani Group in Jordan, “Moevenpick Amman” and “Arena Space” and employment opportunities after graduation. 4. Bachelor’s in Business Analysis Technology (College of Business), which is the first major of its kind in Jordan. It came to meet the need of the global market in analyzing the huge information that enters the systems of companies on a daily basis, especially after the spread of reliance on IOT technologies, artificial intelligence, AI, Blockchain and others for business development. 5. The Higher Diploma in Clinical Psychology (College of Arts and Sciences), which is one of the most sought-after disciplines in the Middle East. It provides opportunities for students of psychological counseling, special education, psychology and others to increase their knowledge and refine their skills with a specialized program. 6. The Higher Diploma in Digital Instructional Design (College of Arts and Sciences), which bridges the digital transformation gap that we witnessed in the education and higher education sector during the Corona pandemic, as this program provides a golden opportunity for school teachers to learn methods of converting educational materials into hybrid digital materials and designing digital educational programs and thus Raise their readiness to deal with the modern digital educational system that will not leave us even after the end of the pandemic. 7. Masters in Cyber Security (College of Information Technology), which focuses on the cyber security of companies and institutions, where the program provides its members with the knowledge, skills and ability to work on protecting corporate and institutional data from the threat of digital crimes, and this is one of the most requested programs in our time.

With Wide International Participation, the Conference “Innovation and Modern Trends in Engineering, Technological and Science Education 2021” at Princess Sumaya University for Technology in cooperation with Al-Ahliyya Amman University

The work of the first international conference “Innovation and Modern Trends in Engineering Education, Technology and Science 2021” was concluded, organized by King Abdullah II College of Engineering at Princess Sumaya University for Technology in cooperation with the College of Engineering at Al-Ahliyya Amman University and with the support of IEEE Jordan Branch, through visual communication technology and with wide international participation . The two-day conference focused on 15 papers that will be published in the IEEE Xplore in the field of engineering and technical education and its global transformations, and seeks to exchange ideas and efforts in developing learning and education in these areas. In turn, the conference president, Dr. Bilal Sababha, Dean of King Abdullah II College of Engineering, said that the conference came in recognition of the great transformations taking place in the fields of engineering and technical education, keeping pace with future work and its changes, and what the labor markets require of graduates in line with the reports of the World Economic Forum, and the need to acquire them Skills and competencies capable of keeping pace with the fourth industrial revolution and the consequences of the pandemic. Sababha praised the international participation, its accuracy and comprehensiveness, indicating that the percentage of accepted research in the conference amounted to approximately 42%, stressing the importance of reflecting the outcomes and recommendations of the conference on the practical and teaching aspects. In turn, Prof. Bassam Al Mahasneh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, demonstrated the important role played by the scientific research centers at Al-Ahliyya Amman University in promoting and revitalizing the scientific research movement, stressing its quest to establish events that bring together human minds in various Jordanian, Arab and international scientific disciplines. Mahasneh stressed that holding this event means presenting new research and studies published in the name of the university, which raises its international ranking and position, achieves development in relations between students from different universities, and enriches experiences with researchers from outside the university and international experts from outside the Kingdom. The conference was attended by researchers from Jordan, China, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, Qatar, Portugal, Pakistan, Greece and Saudi Arabia.
